DU Community Connections: Maine Needs Donation Collection at USWNT Watch Party

In April, the Dirigo Union Community Engagement Committee is teaming up with Maine Needs to collect donated goods during the USWNT game on April 5th. Maine Needs is a local non-profit committed to "supporting long time Maine families, newly arrived immigrants, those fleeing domestic violence, those leaving incarceration, those in recovery, veterans, and those who are unhoused, newly housed, or experiencing financial hardship."

The Collection and watch party will take place at Rising Tide Brewery in Portland at 4:30. For a complete list of Maine Needs most pressing items they are looking for please see their website and social media. Maine Needs has also communicated to the DU they are looking for the following items:

• housewares (especially kitchen supplies and linens)

• men's clothing

• adult socks (all sizes, genders and ages)

• shoes (all sizes, genders and ages)

We encourage all of our members to also take a moment to learn a little more about Maine Needs. In addition to accepting donations to help our neighbors, Maine Needs also accepts financial donations and is always looking for volunteers to help support their programs.
