When I heard the news of Portland getting a new professional soccer team, joining the Dirigo Union became an no-brainer decision for me. I am thrilled to embark on this journey of establishing a vibrant and inclusive supporters club. Together, we will cultivate an atmosphere of camaraderie and passion, making match days unforgettable experiences for fans and players alike. I am committed to fostering a community where every supporter feels valued and connected to the team. If you share my excitement and vision, I invite you to join us!
Co-Chair
Mitchell Ketchen
I joined the Dirigo Union to help bring soccer culture to Maine. Being a fan of a club thousands of miles away is hard, now we get to support a professional club right at home.

In his spare time, he can found at the Portland Zoo watching his beloved Liverpool.

I grew up playing soccer and have missed the soccer community I had in my youth. When I heard that a soccer team was coming to Portland, I knew that I wanted to be involved. I’m excited to be a member of Dirigo Union and help support in any way I can. I can’t wait to build the Portland soccer experience from the ground up with everyone!

Like many I grew up playing soccer, am an avid fan, and always wished Portland had a professional team so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of the DU.
Board Member
Sebastian Pettitt
Like most people growing up in rural Maine, Sebastian fell in love with the sport of soccer learning the game on gravel driveways & too-tall grass fields. Childhood dreams that one day his home would have a club like the ones on television became real, and now Sebastian has joined the union with the goal of growing the Union and the great community that has been forged. With a focus in media, Sebastian looks forward to lending a helping hand to any and all Union members and committees. Away from the Union, Sebastian is an avid gamer, occasionally streaming on Twitch, a league bowler/team co-owner in Bowl Portland, and has been the play-by-play voice of 13 different Southern Maine Huskies sports for programs (including Men's & Women's soccer) for over eight years.

I joined a soccer team when I was 5 years old. I quit a few weeks later after *that* Full House episode (iykyk). 25 years later, the sport’s barrier-breaking athletes and community-minded fans drew me back in when I really needed it. I joined Dirigo Union because I think there’s something special about a sport that doesn’t ask questions about why you left or about why you’re showing up—and I want to be a part of creating that welcoming community right here in our equally special home of Maine.

My personal work intersects sports and arts and I have a particular passion for sports-based youth development. Locally you can find me coaching recreational and competitive figure skaters, teaching and supporting theatre, dabbling in film production, & instigating social change through sports.

To me, one of the best things about soccer is the community that comes with the game. From the players on the pitch, to the supporters in the stands, you really find the family you didn’t know you were missing. There is nothing quite like it. I am so excited to be part of Dirigo Union and look forward to growing our community even more and sharing that energy with you all.
Honorary Members
Co-Founder
Mario Moretto
Mario has been involved in supporter culture for years, including as a leader in American Outlaws (USMNT/USWNT) and The Rebellion (New England Revolution), and as a member of Maine Gooners (Arsenal).
So when he heard in 2019 about an effort to bring a USL team to Portland, he sought like-minded people who shared a love of Maine and of soccer to create an independent supporters group. That originalgroup of volunteers represented fans in conversations with the nascent team front office, worked to generate buzz in the community, and laid the groundwork for an authentic, independent supporter culture in Portland.
Mario now lives in DC but can’t wait to be back in Portland for the first home match in 2025!
Co-Founder
John Morgan
John has been involved in Maine soccer in a bunch of different roles since first playing with the Navy Blue U6 team in the Westbrook recreational soccer program in the late 1980s, and he's a proud co-founder of the Dirigo Union with Colin and Mario.
He's really excited to see how the new team of leadership has transformed the supporters' group from concept to reality, and he's really looking forward to joining fellow Dirigo Union supporters at games and events.
