Dirigo Union Team to Compete in First Ever Forest City Cup

Robert McLaughlin

The Dirigo Union is proud to be participating in the inaugural Forest City Cup, a 7 v 7 competition being held at Fitzpatrick Stadium on August 10th & 11th. Hosting this tournament is a collaborative affair between Casa Soccer & Old Port FC and in addition to the tournament itself several social events including an opening and closing ceremony will accompany the festivities. Teams will be competing from as far away as New Jersey across the two divisions of the competition. Matches will begin Saturday in a group stage competition to be followed by a knockout stage on Sunday. All matches will be comprised of two twenty-minute halves.

In addition to our team on the field, the Dirigo Union will also be tabling the event and cheering on the teams as they compete. Matches will begin at 8:00 AM on both days of the competition and wrap up around 2:00 PM. For spectators and participants alike, local restaurant & food truck Cheese Louise will be serving up the finest grilled cheeses on the Peninsula at Fitzy. More information about the tournament can be found on the Forest City Cup’s Instagram page. Its sure to be a brilliant day of live soccer in Portland.
