Annual Meeting Kicks off at Bunker Brewing Next Week

The Dirigo Union will be hosting its second Annual Meeting at Bunker Brewing in Portland on 1/17. This will be an event full of fun and a little bit of business. Things will kick-off at 2:00 PM with a social hour with a presentation by the 2025 board to follow at 3:00. A community potluck will follow. Other big things happening that day include:

The DU Chili Cook-Off

For the second-year running, the DU will host a chili cook-off. Contestants will serve a crock-pot (or equivalent vessel) of their finest chili. Voting will be conducted by all members who want to take part. Contestants are asked to please list all the ingredients in the chili (and if you so choose to give your chili a fun name). All ingredients are fair game.

Defending DU Chili Champion, Mr. Chris Jenkins had the following message for all those vying for his crown: "I'm here to chew bubble gum and win chili titles, and I'm all out of bubble gum." Jenkins' steak chili last year was the undisputed favorite but several of the DU's culinary elite aim to take him down.

Voting for the 2026 DU Board to Follow Annual Meeting

Much as we'd all like to drink beer, eat chili, and talk Hearts - the government does require us to do a few business obligations during our annual meeting. One item that will coincide with the meeting is our Annual Board election. Nominations to the Board must be submitted no later than 1/13. Eligibility requirements & elected positions can be found on the nomination form. Voting will begin on 1/19 and go through January 27th. If you plan on running or voting, please make sure you 2026 membership dues have been paid. All voting will be done online.
