What is a Supporters Club? Is it a fan club?
A Supporters Club (S.G.) is an independent organization that has a dedicated allegiance to a certain team. Most S.G.’s encourage members to attend home games, actively participate in cheering for the whole match, and loudly and visibly support the team with songs, chants, and flags to create a strong home team advantage and an intimidating atmosphere for opposing teams. S.G.’s often organize trips to away games to continue supporting the team on the road as well!
What do members of Supporters Clubs do?
If you've ever watched a pro soccer game, you've seen — or at least heard — supporters. Most SGs encourage members to attend home games, stand for the whole match, and loudly and visibly support their team with songs, chants, or tifo to create an strong home team advantage and intimidating atmosphere for opposing teams. Supporters Groups often organize travel to away games to provide Support on the road.
What does the club do with membership dues and money made from merch?
The Dirigo Union is a 501(c)(7) non-profit organization, meaning that the majority of our funds must come from member contributions and be reinvested into the club. Examples of things that the money will go towards are: administrative expenses, matchday supplies (Drums, smoke, flags...), and Dirigo Union events.
